SustainableMrk is happy to announce we will be working with TEDxTheAnnexWomen, an independently organized TED event in coordination with TEDWomen on December 5th, 2013 as the conference’s digital consultant.

The theme of this year’s conference is

“Invented Here, how are women and girls reshaping the future? From the developing world to the West, where generations of educated women are transforming entire industries, women are change agents, inventors, idea champions. TEDxTheAnnexWomen”

As a female entrepreneur, SustainableMrk founder, Alice Tu, was excited to be selected as their digital partner.

With so many moving parts including web streaming of the TEDWomen conference in San Francisco, coordinating volunteers, attendees, speakers, and more, the plan was to create a site that everyone could access easily.

As always, WordPress was the perfect solution, not only was it cost effective for the non-profit group but it also allowed for multiple users with different levels of access from simply viewing the site to password protected pages, and administrator only access.

With new sponsors, volunteers, and speakers joining daily, using a site that allowed team members to manage their own page, collaborate and edit as needed was essential.

“We started with a basic intro page but rather than having an ‘under construction page, we wanted a functional site that collected information.

By setting up pages, even with limited information, we were able to see where people were clicking and by allowing people to follow on social media and/or email sign up with categories, we were able to start building a following for announcements as more information becomes available instead of waiting until all information was complete to start building a following.” – Alice Tu, SustainableMrk

The TEDxTheAnnexWomen is evolving constantly, new information is posted regularly and it’s all connected to social media so they can post once and update twitter and facebook simultaneously. New team members join providing services in graphic design, photography and other skill sets that help develop the site and conference.

Even amongst conference organizers, password or private pages assist with collaboration and help minimize back and forth emails. Timelines, tasks, communications, are posted where other volunteers can see without search their inbox. And with backups and individual user access, it’s always easy to trace back changes.
